The Forest Organ
Sound sculpture/instrument.
Sculpture By The Sea, Aarhus, Denmark 2013
The Forest Organ is a site specific sound sculpture created in a collaboration between artists Søren Knudsen Lyngsø and Birgitte Kristensen for the exhibition Sculpture by the Sea 2013.
The work is at the same time a computer controlled instrument integrated into the landscape and a dynamic sculpture consisting of sound.
The Forest Organ was situated in a clearing in the forest where it engaged in a dialogue with the site’s elevated atmosphere by creating a timbral space in constant change, in which the audience could enter and experience the place and the sound both physically and sensually on their body and soul.
The music generated by The Forest Organ was recorded during the exhibition, edited and released as download and on 135g clear vinyl. Read more here
